Cape Cod Theatre Company/Harwich Junior Theatre Will hold auditions for

THE SECRET GARDEN

Story by Frances Hodgson Burnett, adapted by Susan Kosoff and Jane Staab.
Directed by Jane Staab with Musical Direction by Robert Wilder.

Saturday, June 19 from 1-3 pm
and Monday, June 21 from 6-8 pm
at The Arts Center, 265 Sisson Rd in Harwich Center.

All roles are available for ages 12 – Adult; girls, boys, men and women. Please prepare and bring sheet music for16 bars of a song that shows your personality and dress prepared to move. Auditions will be on a first come, first serve basis and a sign-up sheet will available at the time of the auditions.

Performances will take place Tuesdays through Fridays at 6pm, August 19 – September 5 on our new outdoor stage.

CCTC/HJT staff, performers, and volunteers will at minimum follow the most current state guidelines for masking and social distancing during auditions, rehearsals, and performances.

Roles: All Ethnicities
Mary – A young, strong-willed, passionate, smart girl
if a bit spoiled (age 12-15)
Soprano voice, with wide range; must sing well.
Martha – Young woman or older girl (age 15-22). Self-assured, servant to
Mary. Mezzo-Soprano with trained voice.
Colin – Boy, close age to Mary (12-15), smart, selfish, sickly, but
capable of great growth and enthusiasm. Lyrical, boy’s voice.
Dickon – Young man or older boy (age 14-21), brother to Martha. Wise,
beyond his years, nature boy.
Ben – Household Gardener, gritty but charming. speaks the language
of birds and animals. Salt of the earth. (Baritone)
Mrs. Medlock – Middle age plus, crusty, sensible, if seemingly stern.
Housekeeper and manager of the estate. (Alto)
Mr. Craven – Colin’s father, Mary’s uncle. Detached, in mourning for the
loss of his wife years earlier. (Baritone).

and Sunday, June 27 from 1-3 PM
at the Arts Center, 186 Sisson Rd in Harwich Center at the corner of Parallel Street.

The show performs Tuesday-Friday at 6pm, July 22 – August 13 on our new outdoor stage
Auditions will be on a first come, first serve basis and a sign-up sheet will be available at the time of the auditions.

Roles are for all ethnicities and available for two boys and two girls, ages 9 -15. Additional adult roles are open for two to four men, ages 18 and older, and two women, ages 18 and older. Auditions consist of a cold reading from the script.

Orphaned and in danger of going to different foster homes, four siblings run away and make a railroad boxcar their home. Pursued by the authorities and a mysterious stranger, the children discover the rewards and perils of life on the run, as well as the joy of keeping their family together.
