Creative Drama 1

Step into a world of wonder and imagination in our Creative Drama One class! Through guided play and imaginative exploration, children will discover the joys of self-expression and storytelling. Children learn to value self-expression through rhythm, games to develop coordination, sequencing exercises, pantomime, visual art, storybooks, songs, and dances. Class will end with a final demonstration. Great add-on to Sing Sing Sing! 9/27-12/13

Creative Drama 2

This class begins the exciting journey of the budding actor. Children experience developmentally appropriate theatre games and dramatizations of stories that build skills, spark imagination, nurture creativity, and inspire empathy. The class also focuses on enhancing students’ communication skills and self-confidence. Young people are encouraged to repeat Creative Drama workshops within their age range, as each class increases understanding while using new material. Class will end with a final demonstration. This is a great add on to Broadway Kids Jr. for a full theatrical immersion. 9/27- 12/13

Creative Drama 3

Please reach out to [email protected] to discuss other options. class enhances theatre skills through carefully crafted exercises and dramatizing stories and short plays. Students focus on character development using improvisation and script work to develop their craft. Actors are encouraged to repeat their participation in Creative Drama workshops within their age range as each class deepens understanding while introducing new material. Class will end with a final demonstration. This is a great add on to Broadway Kids  for a full theatrical immersion! 9/27 – 12/13

Creative Drama on the Spectrum

This class offers a great introduction to theater games, improvisation, role play using voice and body, and collaborative drama activities designed to meet students where they are. We all have unique abilities and gifts so let’s have some drama fun! This class is designed to accommodate students on the Autism Spectrum but can be enjoyed by anyone with an open mind and a creative spirit! 9/27 – 12/13

Sing, Sing, Sing

Shakespeare Studio: A Midsummer Night’s Dream

This eight-week journey invites young thespians to explore the magic, humor, and whimsy of one of Shakespeare’s most beloved plays, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Each week, we will delve into different aspects of the story including character development, scene analysis, and the art of performance. Students will work collaboratively to bring the vibrant characters of the play to life, from the mischievous fairies to the star-crossed lovers. No prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to explore and have fun! This class will have a final demonstration on the last day. 9/27 – 12/13

Comedy Improv for Adults

In this Intermediate comedy improv class for adults, students will continue to build upon the foundational skills learned in the beginner class. Through a series of interactive exercises and games, participants will further develop their improvisational techniques, including character development, scene work, and quick thinking. Students will also explore more advanced comedic concepts, such as callbacks, running gags, and physical comedy. The class will focus on building ensemble skills and fostering a supportive and collaborative environment. Whether you’re a seasoned performer looking to hone your skills or a newcomer eager to dive deeper into the world of improv, this class offers a fun and challenging opportunity to grow as a comedic improviser. Get ready to laugh, play, and take your improv to the next level! 9/30 – 12/9

Acting for Film

The Acting for Film class is such a wonderful opportunity for students to gain confidence in front of the camera! With fun, hands-on activities like recreating scenes from popular movies, students get to learn essential techniques used by directors, making it easier to understand how a film set works. This friendly training not only boosts their performances but also helps them create amazing acting reels that truly shine. Unscripted: A Movimento Dance Workshop, Ages: Teens and adults

UNSCRIPTED is a six-week workshop series for people who are interested in exploring their own moving body as an aesthetic experience and as art. Participants will be guided through individual and collective processes of body and movement attention and creative exploration, into the structuring of personal and innovative dance art. Individual levels of experience will provide the base for each participant’s exploration, offering paths ahead for interested
beginner to advanced artists. The atmosphere will be one of positivity, creativity, diversity & celebration of each participant’s body, movement and artistic potential. Contemporary dance is an inclusive & celebratory medium, focusing the choreographic eye to movement of all types of bodies, in new spaces, with new thematic goals, soundtracks, etc. The workshop series will be facilitated by Leda Muhana & Dave Iannitelli, who bring more than 50 years combined experience in coaching, motivating and fine-tuning contemporary dance-making. 10/2 – 11/6

Workshop: Languages of Nature, Languages of Art

LNLA is a dance-making workshop where we explore movement as language thru games, stories, and poetry. We learn the natural meaning in movement and how it is a dance. We then go into Nature and find natural meaning in the movements and sounds around us. Each one of us makes a mini-dance based on our Nature experience. We put everyone’s dances together to make a ceremonial dance. A musician comes to accompany us for the making of and dancing the ceremony.

No prior dance experience needed.

 

Tap 4

Wednesday

Ages: 12 – 18

Instructor: Terry Norgeot
This class continues to focus on the fundamentals of Tap. Students put beginning technique to work, learning new steps, rhythms, patterns and combinations. It also focuses on the development of coordination, concentration, listening skills, and self-confidence. The class schedule is offered in a three-season commitment, fall classes focus on building technique and the winter and spring will be rehearsing choreography for the Spring recital.

Tap & Jazz, Adult/Teen Intermediate

Wednesday
5:15- 6:45

Ages 18 and up
Location: Arts Center
Tuition: $270.00
Instructor: Terry Norgeot
2-3 years of prior tap experience. Includes an introduction to proper barre warm-ups and stretches for the body, combined with across the floor progressions and mini combinations. The class will concentrate on building confidence through mastering more difficult patterns and steps. There will be a half hour Jazz component to the class.
