The Art of Listening – 2/25
Being present on stage is magnetic. The most powerful tool you have to be present is your ability to listen and respond truthfully and authentically in the moment. How do we listen on stage? How do we listen in life? Tap into your authentic, responsive self and let your character’s emotions and actions flow naturally. Through a series of improvisational and repetition exercises, we will play, listen, react, and connect.

Devising Playground – 3/4
Come work/play with CCTC/HJT Producing Artistic Director Jenn Pina as she shares ÁSA Theatre’s tenets of Authenticity, Specificity, and Abandon. We’ll check-in, warm-up, play, and experiment with using physical gesture and simple compositional tools as springboards for generating snippets of devised physical theatre. All experience levels welcome. Bring a water bottle, come having eaten (and maybe bring a sustaining snack?), and wear clothes you can move in. Come play!

Tech Workshop – 3/11
Step behind the scenes and into the world of technical theater with this dynamic workshop. Get ready for a hands-on experience, where students will dive into the intricate world of set construction, scenic painting, lighting design, props, and more. Don’t forget to dress in your paint clothes!

Your Story Through Music – 3/18
What is the soundtrack to your life? Bring in a favorite musical theatre or pop song to explore. We will use guided exercises and vocal techniques to find your voice through song.

Physicality for The Actor: What Do I Do With My Hands? 3/25
Join Ian Hamilton in a workshop that explores the ways that our physical behaviors tell stories, and how we can make specific, expressive choices about a character’s physicality. We’ll warm up together, then jump into how tension, weight, direction, and tempo can change how you build a performance. This class will involve a lot of movement, so wear clothes that are comfortable to move around in, eat before you come, and bring water!
