A delightful class to encourage the youngest children to explore the environment through guided play and use of the imagination. Children learn to value self-expression, develop coordination and practice self-regulation through pantomime, rhythm exercises, visual arts, storybooks, song and movement! Concludes with a demonstration for parents and friends.

Puppetry, Facepainting and Masks

Create hand-made puppets and act out stories with them. Learn to face paint and make a mask. A wonderful class to develop confidence in speaking! (Great add-on to Creative Movement)

Creative Drama I

Bring the world of play into the theater! Spark the imagination through developmentally appropriate theatre games and stories that build skills and discipline, nurture creativity and inspire empathy. This class also enhances students communication skills and self-confidence. Students are encouraged to repeat Creative Drama workshops within their age range as each class increases understanding while using new material. Concludes with a demonstration for parents and friends.

Technical Theatre for Kids

Technical Theatre for Kids

Create the magic of stagecraft in this hands on workshop! Explore model building, props and painting. Make a shadow box of your favorite story. Learn stage make-up and create characters with face painting. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy! (Great add-on to Creative Drama 1)

Creative Drama II

Creative Drama II

Enhance theatre skills through carefully crafted exercises and dramatizing stories and plays. Students focus on character development using improvisation and script work to hone their craft. Actors are encouraged to repeat Creative Drama workshops within their age range as each class increases understanding while using new material. Workshop concludes with a final demonstration.

Comedy Improv for Kids

Tickle your own funny bone with timing, rhythm, and saying yes! Create characters and stories on the spot. Explore the world of comedy using improvisation, shtick and comic timing. (Great add-on to Acting is Reacting)

Junior Players

Junior Players

Performance Class! This ensemble of actors performs plays for young and family audiences on Tuesday and Thursday mornings during the summer. In August they also tour to camps, parks and libraries. This class will be in residence for classes and performances at the Harwich Cultural Center on the stage! Auditions are Saturday, June 23 at 10:00 at The Arts Center, 265 Sisson Rd. in Harwich Center. Please call Tammy at 508-432-2002 ext 17 to schedule your audition. Auditions are for new students only. Returning Junior Players please register on-line.

Acting is Reacting

Acting is Reacting

Improvisation and scene work are central to this workshop. Young people practice skills involving concentration, observation, motivation, and emotional recall along with physical and vocal training. Actors learn to put meaning behind words and life behind the eyes as they explore scenes from classical and contemporary plays. (A great add-on to Comedy Improv)

Dance, sing, act – and do it all at the same time? Love to act but your knees turn to jelly during a singing audition? In this class have fun bringing songs to what you know about acting. You learn range, diction, pitch and more to help you sing with expression and confidence. You will also learn to move with choreography- now you are a triple threat! (Great add on to CD2) Final demonstration of course work.
