Read special message included below from CCTC alum and CBS News Correspondent Seth Doane!
It’s been one year since we announced that we were changing our name to the Cape Cod Theatre Company – Home of the Harwich Jr. Theatre. That announcement was the start of something big for our historic, 65-year-old theatre.
This past year, in fact, has been filled with many exciting changes, enhancements, and accomplishments that truly are reinvigorating our theatre – and preparing it for even bigger things.
But it’s just the beginning.
We invite you to become an integral part of our 2016 Annual Fund whose theme this year is “The Start of Something BIG.” This effort is dedicated to the continued expansion of our important programming that has meant so much to so many people and enabled them to experience and nurture their love for live theatre, whether they were onstage, behind the scenes, in a class, or in the audience.
We’d like to share with you the following letter from Seth Doane, one of our proud alums whose experience at this theatre helped set the stage for his success as a respected and well-known television news correspondent:
The thrill of opening night, the friendships formed during rehearsals, and the feeling we got when we walked through those doors into the theatre are things that, as the years pass by, stay present and real.
It’s hard not to smile when thinking of the Cape Cod Theatre Company (still “the HJT” in my memory).
While I do not recall my lines as Romeo or Raggedy Andy, I do remember the feeling of being enveloped in a world where people supported me and encouraged me and pushed me to do better.
Today, I’m the Rome-based correspondent for CBS News, and while acting is not a part of my professional life – depending, I suppose, on what you think of TV reporters – the skills, support, and self-confidence built and nurtured at this theatre are something I have carried with me.
It’s easy to think about how much the Cape Cod Theatre Company means to us but then we forget to make a donation to help support that next generation of actors and technicians, teachers and jesters.
We all have plenty of expenses and things occupying our minds and it is simple enough to leave the idea of making a donation for “next year.” But, as Nina explains, costs are rising and it is getting more difficult to do what the theatre does best – to make this art form and the classes accessible to everyone.
Together we can make a BIG impact. Please donate today to help support the wonderful work of this theatre. -Seth Doane, CCTC-HJT Alum
Your donation of ANY amount will make a tremendous impact toward our goal to become THE Cape Cod destination for live theatre.
We’re onto something BIG! But no gift is too small. Please join Seth in supporting the valuable work of this theatre with your donation of any amount today.
