Acting students focus on developing roles through scenes from plays and explore different methods for learning the skills of the professional actor. Students build on basic acting techniques to analyze texts for beats, subtext, and character motivation. They apply technique and vocabulary to analyze and voice constructive criticism with peers and instructors.
Sing, dance, and act songs and scenes from Broadway musicals including Rock n’ Roll musicals. Develop vocal technique and learn dance moves and combinations with versatility while establishing a character.
This is a fun series of movement classes working with shape shifting, as found in folktale and myth around the world, to evoke expressive movement. We play games that explore movement as language, we will create individual autobiographical story-dances, and finally we will work with a shapeshifting folktale as the structure for our improvisational and informal performance. Class concludes with a final demonstration on October 11.
In this class, we will cover basic makeup techniques used to create characters for the theater or your next Halloween costume.
